High Country Conference Center
201 West Butler Avenue
Flagstaff Arizona 86001
928 523-9521
At an elevation of 7,000 feet, the High Country Conference Center (HCCC) sits on the Old Main Plaza of Northern Arizona University’s campus, just a half mile from downtown Flagstaff and the historic Amtrak Depot.
The first floor features the spectacular Peaks Grand Ballroom which is the venue for the Hobo Auction and the Saturday night Banquet. The adjoining Drury hotel provides five spacious meeting rooms for Clinics, a Contest Room and Office space. You can also enjoy the adjacent 1899 Bar & Grill and the patio out back for the Opening night Ice Cream Social.
Different from any Convention you have attended
The convention is uniquely different than previous conventions since it has only two days of clinics. This clinic schedule features one clinic in each session on the convention theme of Steam to the Grand Canyon. This unique clinic will be of interest to both rail and non-rail attendees. Please reference the Clinic tab for a complete description of all available clinics.
Thursday is Hobo day at the convention. The Hobo breakfast will take advantage of the "Free" breakfast at the Drury with Hobo festivities following in the Abineau Convference room, and then the Hobo Auction Thursday evening.
Friday offers an opportunity "for those attending the convention" to tour the Grand Canyon Railroad engine facility and the Mikado 4960 fired up in preparation for the trip on Saturday.
Saturday is the Steam Train to the Grand Canyon. This would be the highlight of any convention, but you get to experience it here! The convention concludes with an awards banquet with speaker Dale “The Toy Man” Angell. Come and enjoy his humorous take on the world of toys—especially trains!
